Yolanda Varela
Yolanda’s Story
I always had a lot of energy as a kid growing up in the Basque Country, North of Spain.
I loved being busy: sports, after school activities, learning languages… there was never down time for me. By the age of 18, I spoke 6 languages fluently, I was running a small business and I had two jobs that paid for my college education and more. After completing my engineering degree I worked in the corporate world in Spain, Germany, Ireland and France, where I met and married my American husband. We both worked in France as Telecom Engineers where we had three girls and life was wonderful, but then the dot-com bubble collapsed. We were both released from our jobs and decided to move to Denver, where my husband lived before France.
We struggled for a about a year without a job or income. After my husband found a stable job and we had our fourth daughter, I decided to get my Real Estate license. I wanted to buy rental property that would pay for itself and would help cover kids college tuition one day. What started for me as a hobby turned into a passion, I loved my new career from day one. I’m a people person, naturally compassionate and I enjoy putting other people’s needs first.
Today I have over 10 years experience and extensive knowledge in this business, every deal is unique and teaches me something new. I have completed multiple Real Estate designations, Home Inspection, Investing, Interior design, Home staging and other courses that help me provide a better service. As a Real Estate professional, I have gone through the entire market spectrum from short sales and foreclosures, a one time crazy buyer’s market, to the opposite end with no inventory where we reach out and negotiate with FSBOs, wholesalers or local investors to help a buyer find their new home. Good marketing strategy and communication skills are critical nowadays to get a client under contract and get them successfully to a happy closing, all the while coaching clients through the process and often taking them through some interesting hoops. I have to cover every angle of the transaction and be as proactive as possible so things go smoothly for my client. My integrity and my reputation are all I have at the end of the day, I care.
As for hobbies, can I say real estate is also my hobby? When I’m not working for a client, I’m working for myself. Over the past 10 years in the business, I have accumulated a large portfolio of Real Estate that I’m proud of. My daughters can now go to the college of their choice thanks to that. People often ask me, how do you do it, how have you accomplished so much in so little time? my answer is a simple and powerful formula, anything you do with passion, you will succeed, set your focus, keep your aim and go, no distractions. :):)
If you want something bad enough you’ll find the way to make it happen…
